Meet our veterinarian and owner! Dr. Josh Hunter has been practicing veterinary medicine for 20 years. Dr Hunter grew up in the Greenbrier Valley of WV and attended West Virginia University, graduating with a degree in Animal and Veterinary Science in 1996. He was a member of the Class of 1999 at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, he moved to Washington, Pa where his focus was on equine medicine and surgery. In 2005, Dr. Hunter returned to West Virginia to assist a family friend at her veterinary practice. He opened his own practice in West Virginia in 2008 where he has remained for the last 11 years. Dr Hunter has enjoyed being a mixed animal veterinarian in a rural setting with a focus on companion animal medicine and surgery. An opportunity arose for Dr. Hunter, his wife, Katy, and their daughter, Gwen, to move to Katy’s family farm in Somerset, allowing them to be closer to family and to Dr. Hunter’s daughter, Emma. Ashley, CVT

Ashley, CVT

Certified Veterinary Technician

Meet Ashley, one of our Certified Veterinary Technicians.

She’s been a certified veterinary technician (CVT) since 2018. Her love for animals started when she was just six years old and her parents got her an orange kitten for her birthday, which she named Maleo. Growing up with Maleo, she developed an immense love for all cats, but especially orange ones. Seeing an “orange baby,” as she calls them, literally brings tears of happiness to her eyes. She currently has three cats: an orange tabby named Alani, a calico named Arrista, and a black cat named Arya.

Though cats are her favorite, she has a passion for helping animals of all shapes and sizes. She considers herself lucky to have experience with large animals, such as horses, cattle, pigs, goats, and alpacas as well. Working with a large variety of animals has shown her all of their unique qualities and has made her love them all even more.

Fun fact: She loves her cat, Alani, so much that she has a portrait of her tattooed on her arm so that she can be with her forever. ❤️
