Meet our veterinarian and owner! Dr. Josh Hunter has been practicing veterinary medicine for 20 years. Dr Hunter grew up in the Greenbrier Valley of WV and attended West Virginia University, graduating with a degree in Animal and Veterinary Science in 1996. He was a member of the Class of 1999 at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, he moved to Washington, Pa where his focus was on equine medicine and surgery. In 2005, Dr. Hunter returned to West Virginia to assist a family friend at her veterinary practice. He opened his own practice in West Virginia in 2008 where he has remained for the last 11 years. Dr Hunter has enjoyed being a mixed animal veterinarian in a rural setting with a focus on companion animal medicine and surgery. An opportunity arose for Dr. Hunter, his wife, Katy, and their daughter, Gwen, to move to Katy’s family farm in Somerset, allowing them to be closer to family and to Dr. Hunter’s daughter, Emma. Dr. Hunter is passionate about providing the best medicine possible to his patients, and is looking forward to helping you provide the best lives possible to your furry family members!

Dr. Watchey grew up in Johnstown. She graduated from Richland High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA. She attended veterinary school at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul, MN. She enjoys dermatology and dentistry. One of her favorite parts of being a vet is taking care of puppies and kittens and forming a bond with them and their owners as they grow up. Outside the vet clinic, Dr. Watchey enjoys spending time with her husband, her son, their dogs, Nemo and Bindi, their cat, Ava, and Newty, their newt. She also loves to scrapbook, travel, garden, read, and attend Zumba classes.

Meet our owner and practice manager, Katy! Katy graduated from Penn State in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. Following graduation, she worked as an intern for MWI Veterinary supply for a year. For the last 5 years, she has worked as a Distribution rep for Covetrus North America in West Virginia, calling on clinics throughout the state. It has been a dream of Katy’s to move back to her family farm and open a vet clinic in the Somerset area. Katy is very excited to be back, and is looking forward bringing her knowledge and ideas to Glades Pike Veterinary Hospital!
